My name is Dr. Ashley Robertson and this blog will post and give information about African American History. My interests in History span from my research on Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune and her international activism and I consider myself a Bethune Scholar. In May 2013 I graduated from Howard University with a Ph.D. in African Diaspora History and a minor in Public History. I also hold a Masters of Arts in African American Studies and a Bachelor's in Business Finance. Most of the historical work that I am interested in involves African American Women because I believe that we have often been left out of the history books. I am also interested in the international activism of African Americans and ways in which we have shared common struggles throughout the globe. As we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation and the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington I am happy to be writing you as a FREE woman standing on the shoulders of a great and MIGHTY people.
